Our Story

It all started with a family holiday to Lapland. After saving up for over a year, we decided to treat ourselves to a family holiday in Lapland whilst our children were still small.

We were enchanted by how happy, healthy, and vibrant everyone seemed. And then we noticed something: nearly every home had a sauna — in fact, we’re pretty sure there are more saunas than cars in Finland. When we came home, we were inspired to bring a little bit of that magic back with us.

Driven by the incredible health benefits, including studies showing a 40% reduction in all-cause mortality, we knew we needed a sauna of our own. So we built one!

We’re Kathryn and Louis, carpenters by trade and parents to our beautiful twins. Creating something by hand is in our bones. After experiencing the difference a sauna made in our own lives, it felt only natural to craft more, not just for ourselves, but for others looking to improve their health, reconnect with nature, and add something truly special to their outdoor space.

Our Values

We believe in slowing down.
In daily rituals that heal.
In stepping away from screens, stress, and noise — and stepping into warmth, peace, and presence.

Our mission is simple: to help others feel better. To bring back moments of calm. To create something beautiful that invites you to rest, reconnect, and breathe deeply.

Meet the makers

We’re a small, family-run business — just us, our six-year-old twins, and our wonderful team, Jack and James. We all care deeply about what we do, and about doing it well.

When you choose an Elderstone sauna, you’re not just buying a product.
You’re welcoming a piece of craftsmanship into your life — something made with heart, built to last, and designed to bring you joy for years to come.

A natural extension of what we already love

We’re carpenters by trade, so crafting beautiful spaces with our hands is what we do best. Elderstone Saunas came to life naturally — blending our skills, our love for health, and a deep respect for nature.

Every sauna we build is handcrafted in our East Devon workshop. We use sustainable, locally sourced timber — sometimes even reclaimed wood that blends seamlessly into wild, untouched places. Because so many of our customers want something that feels at home in nature.

Our saunas arrive fully built. No flat-pack kits. No compromise. Just honest craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and solid, lasting quality.
